The PIPES Act of 2020 provides new safety requirements for gathering pipelines.
This legislation was signed into law on December 27, 2020 which directs the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (“PHMSA”) to address various pipeline safety issues. PHMSA now requires various pipeline facilities to adopt a patrol program to monitor and survey for leaks, construction activity, and other factors that could affect the safety and operations of the pipeline.
